Dr. Isatou Touray has formerly signed the seven-party opposition coalition agreement which came to pass at Kairaba Beach hotel last week.
“Dr. Isatou Touray has signed the agreement!! Change is never easy but victory is certain. Let us all join the crusade of change; it is not politics as usual but a crusade for a new Gambia,” she wrote on her facebook page following the signing few hours ago.
Dr Touray, the country’s first female presidential candidate, has initially fallen out with opposition members of the coalition after the flag bearer, Adama Barrow, was selected.
She later told a press conference that the convention was engineered to leave her out, an allegation the opposition wouldn’t comment on.
However, when she announced her continued participation in the coalition last week, opposition supporters on social media welcomed her decision.
Madi Jobarteh shared the picture with the message: “Dr. Isatou Touray appending her signature to the coalition agreement signifying her joining the forward movement for change in The Gambia. True to her word and mission.”
Dr Touray largely blamed Fatoumata Tambajang Jallow for her nonparticipation in the coalition convention but she shared a picture on facebook with the opposition activist having lunch together.
“When women are ready then you know that change is coming! The coalition women united and ready to take on Jammeh!!! Dr. Isatou Touray, Fatoumata Tambajang, Aji Yam Secka, Ramzia Diab and Amie Bojang –Sissoho,” she wrote on her facebook timeline.
